Rebuilding & Embracing Lives Interrupted by Earth’s Forces
The Relief Foundation is a nonprofit focused on helping those affected by natural disasters. Unlike most relief missions, The R.E.L.I.E.F. Foundation reaches people who may have been forgotten post initial shock and relief efforts.
R.E.L.I.E.F. members are a blend of people from different backgrounds, ages, and professions. One of our main goals is to foster understanding through person-to-person interactions between our volunteers and locals. Our hope for our volunteers is to create ambassadors that understand the complexities of disaster rebuilding.
Our trips are fully vetted to ensure that we are providing sustainable solutions to communities in need. Our projects meet 3 criteria:
Chosen projects will contribute to the wellbeing of the community long after we are gone.
Our R.E.L.I.E.F. efforts are collaborative, we partner with local nonprofits, and leaders in the communities, to meet previously identified needs & challenges.
Our volunteers work side by side with the locals in an effort to empower those affected to help themselves.
All of the projects we find are intentional and sustainable. We are committed to battling the negative culture of “voluntourism,” where volunteer experience is mainly beneficial to the volunteers, rather than the community. Each project has been thoroughly vetted by our team, making sure that it gives a truly tangible benefit to the community members.
With every project, we asked ourselves, “How will this project benefit the individual or community after a week, a month, or a year after we complete these projects and return home?”
